Influenza Vaccination 2011~2012
Flu shot season is once again here. This season's vaccine is very similar to last season's and contains components of the "pandemic" flu from 2009 (H1N1), a type A (H3N2) antigen, and a type B antigen. A limited supply of the Live-attenuated Intranasal Vaccine (FluMist) will also be available. This vaccine is suitable for those 2 to 49 years of age and in good health (not recommended for those with asthma or during pregnancy).
Most adults require only one shot, while children under 9 years old getting vaccinated for the first time should consider getting 2 injections, 2 to 4 weeks apart. Japanese health authorities are recommending 2 injections for all persons under 13 years of age. Please see our "Influenza Q & A" for additional information.
Vaccination fees are¥3,000 per injection for adults and ¥2,500 per injection for those 6 months to 15 years of age. Although vaccine supply is not anticipated to be a problem this year, we recommend calling ahead to confirm availability. You can also complete the pre-vaccination form prior to your visit to save some time.
Although vaccinations will be given during regular clinic hours, we will also be providing extra hours for vaccination to limit contact betwen healthy vacinees and other ill patients. Hours are as noted below:
| Tues, Thurs | 18:15 - 19:00 |
| Wed, Fri | 14:00 - 14:30 |
| Saturdays | 13:45 - 15:30 |
